From mountains and open seas to village revival events, festivals, live venues, protests, shrines, temples, elementary schools, and nursing homes \u2014 wherever they appear, crowds of all ages lose themselves in the frenzy. Off the stage, individual members pursue their own paths in folklore research and traditional trades \u2014 from crafting <em>zori<\/em> sandals and <em>gama-guchi<\/em> coin purses to farming, carpentry, <em>shakuhachi<\/em> instruction, and the study of traditional patterns and dress.
