Kawahara Akira ∞ Okuda Yuko, Kanagawa and Fukuoka

Two Clowns, One Endless Connection

“Kawahara Akira ∞ Okuda Yuko” bring the spirit of Japanese street performance to WMDF through juggling, clowning, and a warm comic partnership built over many years. Both trained in the foundations of clown performance at Clown College Japan, and today they are based around Yokohama’s Minato Mirai / Grand Mall Park area while performing at events and street-performance festivals across Japan.

Their show combines juggling technique with light-hearted timing, playful communication, and the pleasure of live audience interaction. The “∞” between their names feels just right: rather than simply two solo performers standing side by side, Kawahara and Okuda create a continuing loop of movement, humour, rhythm, and response.

Their long performance history includes family concerts, international clown festivals, major commercial openings, large-scale events, and street-performance festivals. They remind us that street performance is not only about skill, but about the shared connection generated between performers and audience — a connection that keeps echoing after the show ends.
