Street artistry with flair, timing, and a wink
Kawahara Akira is a seasoned street performer based in Kanagawa, boasting over 30 years of experience delighting audiences across Japan’s most spirited festivals and public spaces. Trained as part of the second class of the renowned Clown College Japan—connected to the iconic Ringling Brothers Circus—Kawahara blends sharp technical skill with playful humour, engaging families with his dynamic club juggling, Diabolo tricks, roller balance, stilt comedy, and even fire shows.
His signature style lies in seamlessly mingling daring feats of balance and dexterity with mischievous wit, drawing both children and adults into the performance. Whether rolling a precarious trick, launching a Diabolo into the air, or embarking on a fire-lit spectacle, Kawahara keeps audiences laughing, gasping, and enchanted.
An impromptu addition to this year’s program, Kawahara brings spontaneity and joy to the park—reminding us how heartfelt moments can arrive when least expected.
