Miwa Toshi Tessin is a Celtic trio based in Kansai, Japan, formed in 2020. Blending rich vocal harmonies with traditional instruments, they explore the deep spirit of Irish and Scottish music through dance tunes, ballads, mouth music, waulking songs, and sea shanties. Their performances span multiple languages—Gaelic, English, and Japanese—and often feature voices used like instruments to create rhythm and melody.
Vocalist and guitarist Miwa Horio brings a lyrical magic to every song. Toshi Bauron’s percussive energy and vocal warmth power the heartbeat of the group. Tessin Kaneko, a master of the Uilleann pipes and whistles, adds a legendary melodic force.
Since their debut in 2021, the trio has toured extensively across Japan, performing around 50 shows annually. Their first live album was released in 2022, and their newest studio work continues to expand their distinctive interpretation of Celtic traditions through a uniquely Japanese lens.
