Fooling around in a stripy swimsuit. What could be more fun?
Originally appearing at WMDF as part of the trio “Africlown,” Chappy returns once again with his colourful solo clown world of play, surprise, and human connection. Performing across festivals, schools, hospitals, welfare facilities, and public events, he has spent many years bringing laughter to audiences of all ages throughout Japan and abroad, including the World Clown Festival in Japan alongside Patch Adams.
Chappy’s performances combine classic clowning, audience interaction, improvisation, and a warm sense of joyful chaos. At WMDF, Chappy is more than a scheduled performer: he is part of the festival atmosphere itself. Audiences know to watch the steps above the Atlas stage, where his surprise appearances have become a much-loved tradition, and he can often be found roaming the site, turning ordinary moments into playful encounters. This year too, Chappy brings the bright stripes, generous spirit, and unpredictable energy that have made him one of WMDF’s familiar favourites.
