Pura vida, live in music and dance
Founded in San José in 2006, Inspiraciones Costarricenses brings Costa Rica’s music and dance traditions to life with colour, warmth, and care. Their performances feature entirely live music from a professional orchestra, including traditional Costa Rican instruments such as the marimba, together with a vibrant dance company in traditional costume.
With more than 50 choreographic works arranged into 13 folkloric suites, their repertoire celebrates regions including Guanacaste, Limón, Puntarenas, and the Northern Region, as well as national symbols and stories from Costa Rica’s history.
Inspiraciones Costarricenses has represented Costa Rica in more than 25 countries across Europe, Asia, and Latin America, receiving awards including the Grand Prix at the World Championship of Folklore in Bulgaria, First Place for Best Choreography in Lithuania, and Audience Favorite Group in Poland. WMDF marks their first official artistic tour to Japan. With live music, graceful movement, and pura vida spirit, they invite us into the rich cultural heart of Costa Rica.
