A Singing, Playing, and Romping Trio from “Minimamus”
Micromus is a playful trio that grew out of the performance-music group Minimamus, bringing songs, accordion, ukulele-banjo, and handmade “junk percussion” to audiences wherever they gather. With Hide Kusumi on vocals and ukulele-banjo, Toshiko Kanno on accordion and chorus, and Mizuguchi Gucchi on chorus and found-object percussion, their style is light-footed, noisy, friendly, and ready for almost any setting, from nurseries and cafés to care homes, street events, halls, and festivals.
All three members are enthusiastic food-lovers, so their repertoire includes plenty of songs about eating, including “Hiyoko-mame no Uta” and “Polenta Polka.” Somewhere between music, play, and small-scale street theatre, Micromus turns everyday appetite into cheerful sound. Whether or not Michelin is ready, their Bib Gourmand rumours may already be spreading.
